Nashik, Sep 3: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met a delegation of tribal students in Nashik, including students who were on hunger strike demanding action on their concerns.
The students raised several issues, including the condition of ashram schools meant for tribal communities.

Following the meeting, Gandhi said education was not a privilege but a right of every student in India. He said students from marginalised communities should not face neglect from the system and must receive the necessary support and assistance.
“Education is not a privilege — it is the right of every student in India,” Gandhi said in a post on X, adding that he had listened carefully to the students’ problems and demands during his Nashik visit.
He further said every student had the right to a respectful, safe and conducive environment for education.
During his visit, Gandhi also interacted with district-level Maharashtra Congress leaders and urged them to remain committed to the party’s ideology and work to ensure justice for the people.
