Mangaluru, Sep 3: With Ashtami celebrations just a day away, Mangaluru is slowly slipping into a festive mood, with colourful flower stalls and fresh vegetables adding vibrancy to markets and streets across the city.
Flower shops have begun witnessing increased activity as people head out to purchase flowers for their homes, temples and festive rituals. Bright displays of jasmine, marigold, chrysanthemum and other flowers are already giving the markets a colourful festive look.

According to flower vendor Suresh, the availability of flowers has improved this season, bringing some relief to customers.
“This time, comparatively more flowers have arrived. During the rainy season, flower prices tend to be higher, but now the prices are relatively lower. Customers can buy more flowers at affordable prices,” Suresh said.
He added that the festive season has also brought more customers to flower shops, giving vendors hopes of good business in the coming days.
Meanwhile, vegetables used during the festive period have also started filling vegetable stalls. The fresh produce, colourful flowers and increasing number of shoppers have added to the cheerful atmosphere in the city.
For vendors, Ashtami brings hopes of better sales, while for customers, the availability of flowers and vegetables at reasonable prices has made the festive shopping even more enjoyable.
With markets buzzing and colourful stalls lining the streets, Mangaluru is all set to welcome Ashtami in a festive and cheerful spirit.
