Mumbai: 19-year-old man slits wife’s throat, ends life over domestic quarrel

Mumbai, Sep 4: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old daily wage labourer allegedly murdered his teenage wife before taking his own life following a domestic dispute early Friday morning in the city.

The deceased have been identified as Mohd Ehsan Sheikh (19) and his wife Jannat Ehsan Sheikh (19). Both worked as daily wage earners.

According to police sources, the gruesome incident occurred around 5:00 am on Friday. A heated argument reportedly broke out between the couple, following which Mohd Ehsan Sheikh allegedly attacked his wife with a kitchen knife, slitting her throat. Immediately after the assault, Sheikh inflicted fatal self-injuries using the same weapon.

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and shifted both to Nair Hospital. Jannat succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Sheikh breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police officials stated that a case of murder has been registered against Sheikh regarding his wife’s death, while an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been filed concerning his own death. Further investigation into the exact trigger behind the dispute is currently underway.
