Mangaluru, Sep 5: Recognising the vital role teachers play in shaping society, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Mangaluru showroom, marked Teachers’ Day with a special programme honouring educators for their distinguished service in the field of education.

Six teachers who have rendered notable service to education were felicitated during the programme. They were Naveen Shetty K, Permude Mohan Kumar, Yusuf Vittal, Rathnavathi J Baikady, Sister Maria Shruthi A and Veena Agnes D’Souza.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest Rekha J Shetty praised Malabar Gold & Diamonds for identifying and honouring teachers who provide direction to society. She said initiatives of this nature help bring greater recognition to the valuable service rendered by educators.

Another chief guest, Santhosh Kumar Shetty, lauded the company for celebrating Teachers’ Day meaningfully through its socially oriented activities. He said the honour extended to teachers reflected the importance of the education sector and its contribution to society.

Chief guest Dayananda Kattal also appreciated the organisation’s CSR initiatives, describing the decision to honour teachers as part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations as a highly commendable gesture.

The programme was compered by Poornima Dhananjaya. On the occasion, Poornima, a member of the Malabar Gold & Diamonds staff who had previously served as a teacher, was also recognised and felicitated for her contribution to the teaching profession.

The programme was attended by Hafeez Rahman, store head of the Malabar Gold & Diamonds Mangaluru showroom; Nazar Ahammed P P, assistant store head; Raghuram C S, showroom manager; Sheikh Farhan, marketing manager; and other members of the organisation’s staff.
