Mangaluru, Sep 5: Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, Mangaluru, celebrated Teachers’ Day on September 5 with a vibrant and imaginative programme themed “Ascendra,” honouring teachers and staff whose dedication continues to inspire, guide and shape young lives.
Organised by the cabinet leaders, the celebration transformed the school auditorium into “MCCS Airways – Flight Ascendra.” The programme took off with a unique boarding experience as staff members received specially designed boarding passes and were welcomed aboard “MCCS Airways – Flight Ascendra.” Student hosts Glenn Rodrigues and Anora D’Souza dressed as pilots added to the aviation-themed excitement.






















































Following a prayer service, head girl Aloma Lobo extended a warm welcome, acknowledging the principal, sisters, teachers, administrative staff and support staff for making MCCS a second home for students. A floral tribute was offered to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day.
The flight took off in style with a lively mix of a humorous skit, soulful singing, an energetic dance battle, “Kudla’s Got Latent” and a vibrant dance medley. Grade XII Cabinet members added to the fun with games such guess the song, Koun Banega Crorepati and School Charades, while the non-teaching staff joined the Katta Mitta game. The grand finale brought the performers together in a heartfelt tribute celebrating the patience, guidance, encouragement and unwavering belief of teachers.
Principal Sr Melissa applauded the students for their creativity and efforts, and shared an inspiring message. The school programme concluded with the vote of thanks by head boy Arush Ullal, followed by the symbolic grand landing of Flight Ascendra.
The celebrations continued with a special programme organised by the Parent-Teacher Executive Committee (PTEC). A prayer and welcome dance set the tone, followed by a welcome address by PTEC member William Rebello, who acknowledged the teachers’ dedication and contribution to students’ growth.
Fun-filled games conducted by Preema and Haripriya, an energetic dance by the parents and the presentation of gifts to all staff as tokens of love and appreciation added warmth and cheer to the celebration. Winners of games were felicitated by PTA vice president Sujay D’Silva and PTA joint secretary Merralyn Pereira.
Principal Sr Melissa thanked the PTA vice president and the PTEC members for organising the special celebration.
The programme was compered by Ranjana, while Ananthesh Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks. The festivities concluded with a sumptuous lunch and moments of fellowship, followed by teachers dancing to the live band performance by the PTEC members, bringing the celebrations to a lively and memorable close.
The Teachers’ Day celebration was a fitting tribute to the educators who shape lives with wisdom, patience, compassion and dedication. From the imaginative journey of Flight Ascendra to the music, laughter, games and thoughtful gestures of the PTEC, the day captured the true spirit of Teachers’ Day.
