Mangaluru, Sep 5: In a splendid display of reverence and gratitude, Expert PU College, Valachil, hosted a magnificent celebration to mark Teachers’ Day, paying homage to the educators who tirelessly shape the destinies of tomorrow's leaders.
The ceremonial proceedings commenced with a solemn floral tribute to the legendary philosopher and statesman Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, setting a dignified tone for the event.
The august gathering was graced by veteran teacher Prof Ganapathi Bhat, Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, Ankush N Nayak, IT director, Deepika A Nayak, architect, Ustaad Rafiq Khan, trustee, and Prof Subrahmanya Udupa H C principal.
In a touching tradition, the students ceremoniously paid obeisance to their teachers, who in turn blessed them with manthrakshathe — sacred rice.
Prof Ganapathi Bhat, former head of the Department of Mathematics, Vijaya College, Mulki, addressed the gathering. Prof Bhat said, "A Guru is the one who removes darkness." He expressed his profound appreciation for the noble profession of teaching and shared valuable insights on the enduring significance of the teacher-student relationship. He also conveyed his gratitude to the management at the Teachers' Day celebration.
Delivering the presidential address, Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of the Expert Group of Institutions, Mangaluru, articulated his boundless gratitude towards the teaching fraternity. "Educators are the undisputed architects of our sovereign nation," he proclaimed. He also remarked that becoming a teacher brings completeness to one's life and wished the students to become good citizens of the nation.
Dr. Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, said, "Teachers are the ones who create a lineage." Extolling the noble vocation of teaching, she added, "A teacher's boundless patience, benevolence, and steadfast commitment form the foundation of a student's triumph. We salute the indomitable spirit of every educator."

The veteran teacher was then honoured with a citation and a memento by the chairman and the vice chairperson.
Gurudatta N, vice principal (academics), Druthi V Hegde, vice principal (admin), Dr Viju Kamath, programme director; and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
The crowning jewel of the gala was a scintillating cultural extravaganza orchestrated by the teachers themselves. Captivating the scholarly audience, the faculty presented a mesmerising tapestry of melodious renditions and performances. The showcase brilliantly unveiled their multifaceted talents, replacing their usual academic rigour with boundless exuberance.
