Bantwal, Sep 8: Based on a complaint lodged by a minor boy, a resident of the Vittal police station limits and the complainant in the case, six cases have been registered against six persons for allegedly subjecting him to sexual assault between February and August 2026.

The boy lodged the complaint on September 4, alleging that the accused — Jawad, Shahid, Riyaz alias Abdul Gafoor and three others — had sexually assaulted him during the said period.

Based on the complaint, Vittal police registered cases under Crime Nos. 185/2026, 186/2026, 187/2026, 188/2026, 189/2026 and 190/2026 under Sections 4(2), 5(m), 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

During the investigation, police arrested three of the accused — Jawad, Shahid and Riyaz alias Abdul Gafoor — and produced them before the court.

The court subsequently remanded the three accused to judicial custody.
