St Vincent Pallotti Church, Banasawadi, celebrates feast of Nativity of Our Mother Mary

Bengaluru, Sep 8: The annual feast of Nativity of Our Mother Mary was celebrated at St Vincent Pallotti Church, Banasawadi, Bengaluru with traditional gaiety & fervour on Tuesday, the Sept 8th. The services in Konkani commenced in the morning at the Church premises with blessing of newly grown sheaves of paddy corn by assistant parish priest, Fr Jithesh D’Souza. This was followed by children offering & honouring Mother Mary with flowers with singing of hymns in honour of Mother Mary. Thereafter children along with priests and parishioners proceeded to the church in a procession with blessed paddy corn and statue of Infant Mary to celebrate Holy Mass.

The main celebrant during the Eucharistic Service was Fr Michael D'Almeida, provincial rector of ABVM Province Bengaluru, with other co-celebrants including parish priest Fr Francis Mariyappa, secretary to provincial Fr Ankith D’Souza, assistant parish priests Fr, Jithesh D’Souza, Fr Daniel Horta and Fr Balaraj. The homily during Eucharistic celebration Was delivered Fr Michael D'Almeida.

Konkani Choir Group ably supported the Eucharistic Service by singing melodious hymns during the Service.

Blessed corn was distributed to the parishioners at the end of the service.

Breakfast was served at the church basement after the service got over. Sugar cane was distributed to the children thereafter.

President of St Vincent Pallotti Konkani Kutamb Banasawadi, Herald Alfred Lewis proposed the vote of thanks at the end of Service.

Main attraction of this year's celebration was the 9 days Novena in preparation of the Nativity Feast. Each day had a unique theme on the life of Mother Mary with floral offerings to Mother Mary held during the evening mass.
