Mumbai, Oct 23: Television actor Jay Bhanushali has expressed his support for estranged wife Mahhi Vij after she broke down emotionally on Bigg Boss 20 while speaking about the challenges of being a single mother and her decision to refuse alimony following their separation.
During a conversation with fellow contestants Aasif Khan and Yung, Mahhi opened up about raising her daughter, Tara, and explained why she chose not to accept financial support from Jay despite a judge advising her to reconsider her decision.
Reacting to a video clip from the episode shared on Mahhi's Instagram account, Jay assured her that money would never come between them and that he would continue to support her during difficult times.
“Be strong, Mahhi. We both know we'll always be there for each other in hard times. Money was never between us and never will be,” Jay wrote.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to Mahhi and their daughter, Tara, saying their marital status would not affect the love and respect he had for them.
“You and Tara will always be my responsibility for life. A marriage status can never change the love and respect I have for you both. I'm always here,” he added.
During the episode, Mahhi spoke about her strained interaction with fellow contestant Arishfa Khan and admitted that she regretted some of the remarks she had made during their confrontation. She also described the difficulties of managing her daily responsibilities as a single mother.
Explaining her decision to refuse alimony, Mahhi said she wanted to secure her daughter's future independently and did not wish to ask anyone for money, including Jay.
She revealed that a judge had advised her four times to accept alimony during court proceedings, but she declined the offer. Mahhi maintained that Jay had never prevented her from accepting financial support and acknowledged his hard work and dedication to his career.
Mahhi said her life revolved around Tara and that she wanted to take responsibility for securing her daughter's future through her own efforts.
For the unversed, Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali announced their separation on January 4, 2026, after several years of marriage. The former couple continue to co-parent their daughter, Tara.
