Baga, Sep 9: A 54-year-old man from Karnataka died after he allegedly slipped on his own vomit and fell, sustaining a bleeding injury to his nose at a guest house in Baga, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Zakeer Khan, a resident of Harihar in Davangere district. He was staying with three friends in a room at Lillas Cottage, Bhiramar Complex, near Nazri Resort in Baga.
According to police, Khan had been consuming alcohol from around 12.30 pm on Monday when he vomited on the floor of the room.
He allegedly slipped on the vomit and fell, sustaining an injury to his nose.
Police said Khan subsequently cleaned the room, wiped the blood from his nose and went to sleep.
His friends later tried to wake him but found him unresponsive.
A 108 ambulance was called and Khan was rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Candolim, where doctors declared him brought dead.
His body was subsequently shifted to the mortuary at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for preservation and medico-legal formalities.
Calangute police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
