Cannabis crop worth Rs 14.88 lac seized in Beed, 22-year-old arrested

Beed, Sep 9: Police have seized cannabis plants worth around Rs 14.88 lakh allegedly being cultivated illegally on public grazing land in Maharashtra’s Beed district and arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the case, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a grazing area at Kewad village in Kaij tehsil on Monday evening. During the search, the officials found cannabis plants allegedly being cultivated and concealed among tall wild grass in front of a residence.

Police uprooted 74.432 kg of cannabis crop valued at approximately Rs 14.88 lakh during the operation.

The occupant of the house was arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police said.
