Mumbai, Sep 9: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has sparked speculation about his future as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati after expressing in a recent blog post that he sometimes finds it emotionally difficult to continue hosting the popular television quiz show.

The 83-year-old actor, who is currently hosting the 18th season of KBC, wrote that the deeply personal and heartbreaking stories shared by some contestants often leave a strong emotional impact on him.

Bachchan said certain contestants come with such difficult personal experiences that it becomes challenging not only to control one's emotions but also to continue with the responsibilities of hosting the programme.

In the blog post, the veteran actor also wrote, “I wish to retire now,” triggering fresh speculation among fans about whether he may be considering stepping away from the show.

However, it remains unclear whether his remarks were a serious indication of retirement from Kaun Banega Crorepati or an expression of emotional exhaustion after hearing the experiences of contestants.

Amitabh Bachchan has been closely associated with Kaun Banega Crorepati since the programme first aired in 2000. He has hosted every season except the third edition, which was presented by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Speculation about Bachchan leaving the show had also surfaced ahead of the 17th season in 2025. Reports at the time claimed that he was planning to quit for personal reasons and that Salman Khan could replace him.

The reports, however, proved to be incorrect after Sony TV released promotional material featuring Amitabh Bachchan as the host of the new season.

With his latest comments now drawing widespread attention, fans will be watching closely to see whether the legendary actor continues his long-running association with one of Indian television's most successful quiz shows.
