Bicholim, Sep 9: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday inaugurated the redeveloped Bicholim bus stand, constructed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) at a cost of Rs 16 crore.

Sawant said the bus stand has emerged as an important interstate transport hub, as buses from Maharashtra and Karnataka pass through Bicholim.

He said the government was considering connecting all bus stands in the state with the interstate transport network and providing bus services from rural areas up to border checkposts.

The Chief Minister said Bicholim had witnessed significant development in recent years and added that work on an administrative building was also nearing completion.

"Considering the pace of development, a master plan for Bicholim will soon be prepared. The focus will be on planned development, including underground utility lines, cables and sewage networks," Sawant said.

He said the government was working with the state's long-term development in mind and claimed that all promises made in the BJP's 2022 election manifesto had been fulfilled.

Sawant also urged people not to be misled by statements made by the Opposition.

GSIDC Chairman Michael Lobo said he had reviewed infrastructure projects across the state and had specifically followed up on the redevelopment of the Bicholim bus stand.
