Mangaluru, Sep 10: Srinivas University City Campus, Pandeshwar, came alive with colour, tradition and enthusiasm as it hosted a grand cultural fest Onashtami -2026 on September 10. The event was organised by the institute of hotel management and tourism, department of interior design, department of animation, and department of mass communication & media studies. The vibrant celebration brought together students and faculty members and showcased the rich cultural spirit of the university.
The event was inaugurated by Srinivas University honourable chancellor Dr A Srinivas Rao, who ceremonially broke the Janmashtami handi, marking the beginning of the celebrations. Addressing the gathering, Dr A Srinivas Rao said that such cultural events provide students with an opportunity to come together, strengthen their bond and understand the richness of Indian traditions and culture. He emphasised that celebrating traditional festivals on campus helps pass cultural knowledge and values on to the younger generation.















Srinivas University Board of Governors members A Vijayalakshmi R Rao and Prof Er Mitra S Rao appreciated the enthusiastic efforts of the students in creating a festive and colourful atmosphere on the campus. The campus was beautifully transformed with vibrant representations of tigers, Mahabali and other traditional cultural themes, reflecting the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.
A major highlight of the celebration was the 12th-anniversary celebration of the Srinivas Tigers, which added a special significance to the festivities. The audience witnessed a captivating array of traditional performances, including an enthralling Tiruvathira dance from Kerala, which added grace and cultural richness to the programme. A vibrant Radha-Krishna dance performance also captivated the audience and added to the festive spirit.
Adding flavour to the celebrations was a sumptuous spread of food prepared by the talented students of the institute of hotel management and tourism. The students presented a wide variety of culinary delights, ranging from savoury appetisers and delicious main courses to exquisite desserts.
The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Srinivas University development registrar Dr Ajay Kumar, institute of hotel management and tourism, dean, Prof B Prashanth Prabhu, institute of management and commerce dean Dr Venkatesh Amin, institute of physiotherapy dean Dr Thrishala Noronha, institute of education dean Dr Padmanabha C H, institute of computer science and information science dean Dr Subramanya Bhat and institute of occupational therapy dean Dr Pranjali Mathre. Their presence added significance to the celebrations and reflected the university’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and cultural values among its students.
