Mangaluru, Nov 5: In alignment with major national health and nutrition missions like POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) and the Fit India Movement, the NSS unit organized a comprehensive nutrition awareness activity at DKZP Govt Lower Primary School, Narla Padil – Talapady, on Wednesday, November 4. The programme ran focusing on child health, holistic development, and community engagement.

The initiative was conducted under the expert guidance and mentorship of NSS programme officer Dr Ajith K, associate professor cum dietician. Throughout the day, NSS volunteers actively engaged the young students through a series of interactive and educational sessions: Skill development & interactive games: Supporting the vision of national health drives, volunteers organized custom skill-building activities and playful games designed to educate young minds on the importance of balanced diets, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Satvic meal preparation & distribution: Highlighting the core message of wholesome eating, NSS volunteers personally prepared fresh, wholesome Satvic food (cooked entirely without onion and garlic) onsite. This nutritious meal was then lovingly served to all the school students during lunch.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ajith K emphasized that integrating community efforts with national flagship programmes like POSHAN Abhiyaan helps lay a strong foundation for lifelong wellness and academic growth at the primary school level. The school administration, staff, and local community expressed deep gratitude to the NSS team for their dedicated service and meaningful outreach.
