Mangaluru, Sep 13: Police departments in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have implemented extensive security arrangements to ensure the peaceful conduct of Ganeshotsava celebrations, deploying thousands of personnel, initiating preventive actions, and setting up strict surveillance across sensitive routes.

In Udupi district, a total of 492 Ganesh idols will be installed and immersed. Authorities have classified 415 locations as normal, 74 as sensitive, and three as highly sensitive. To maintain law and order, the Udupi police have held 22 peace committee meetings, initiated preventive action against 611 individuals, and bound over 487 persons under various provisions.

In the Dakshina Kannada district police jurisdiction, a total of 230 public Ganeshotsava installations are scheduled. The Beltangady sub-division tops the list with 103 installations (including 25 in Beltangady, 20 in Dharmasthala, 20 in Venoor, 18 in Uppinangady, 13 in Kadaba, and 7 in Punjalkatte). The Puttur sub-division will see 79 installations (18 in Bellare, 17 each in Puttur rural and Sullia, 16 in Puttur town, and 11 in Subramanya). The Bantwal sub-division has 48 scheduled installations, comprising 20 in Vittal, 16 in Bantwal rural, and 12 in Bantwal town.

The Udupi district police have appealed to organisers to conduct immersions strictly through designated routes and approved locations while following instructions issued by authorities. The public is urged to cooperate by ensuring processions do not obstruct traffic and to refrain from raising provocative slogans or indulging in any unlawful activities that disrupt communal harmony.
