Mumbai, Sep 17: Actor Ravie Dubey, who plays Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic Ramayana, has defended co-star Ranbir Kapoor amid mixed reactions to his casting as Lord Rama.

In a recent interview with Variety India, Dubey praised Ranbir’s dedication, preparation and professionalism, saying the actor’s sincerity on the sets had left a strong impression on him.

Dubey described Ranbir as a major superstar while highlighting his work ethic, intensity and preparation for the role. He also praised the actor’s grounded and warm personality, saying his stardom did not affect the way he interacted with others on the sets.

Calling it a privilege to be part of the film’s journey, Dubey expressed his appreciation for working alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Namit Malhotra, Nitesh Tiwari, Yash, Sai Pallavi and the rest of the cast and crew.

Ramayana is a two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient Indian epic traditionally attributed to Valmiki. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman and Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman.

The film also features Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan and Lara Dutta.

Ramayana: Part One is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, with the second instalment slated for release in 2027.
