Kasargod, Sep 18: In a tragic incident, a married couple was found dead inside a pond located within the premises of their residence at Maloth in Vellarikundu.

The deceased have been identified as Sabu (56) and his wife Saji Sabu (52), residents of Tadattil in Karyotchal. Their bodies were discovered on Friday afternoon at around 2 pm.

According to available details, the couple had earlier headed out to their plantation for agricultural work. When they failed to return home by evening, anxious family members and local residents launched a thorough search operation, which ultimately led to the grim discovery of their bodies floating in the pond.

Upon being alerted by locals, the Vellarikundu police rushed to the scene and promptly initiated inquest proceedings.

The exact cause of death remains unclear at this stage, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the tragic event.

Authorities stated that the precise cause of death will only be ascertained following the arrival of the post-mortem report.
