Nagoya, Sep 24: Indian athletes continued their medal-winning run at the Asian Games in Nagoya, with the mixed 4x400m relay team clinching silver and Seema Kumari securing bronze in the women's 10,000m event on Thursday.
The quartet of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Manu TS clocked 3 minutes 14.46 seconds to win the silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay. The result saw India retain the silver medal won in the previous edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Bahrain won the gold medal with a Games record time of 3 minutes 12.87 seconds.
Earlier, Seema Kumari won bronze in the women's 10,000m race after finishing third in 32:50.00. Her medal marked India's first podium finish in the women's 10,000m event at the Asian Games in 16 years.
India also secured a historic bronze medal in the mixed skeet team event in shooting, with Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal finishing third. The medal was India's first-ever in the mixed skeet team category.
The Indian pair missed only four of their 48 shots and finished level with South Korea, but lost to the Korean pair in the tie-breaker. China won the gold medal.
In boxing, Parveen advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's 65kg category after receiving a walkover from Tajikistan's Malika Nozimova in the round of 16 at Nishio. She will next face Uzbekistan's reigning world silver medallist Navbakhor Khamidova.
Earlier in the day, Indian wushu player Roshibina Devi Naorem won silver in the women's 60kg Sanda event after losing 0-2 to China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the final.
The medal was Roshibina's third Asian Games medal. She had won silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Games and bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.
In rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured bronze in the men's double sculls event.
However, Commonwealth Games champion Sakshi Chaudhary's campaign ended after she lost her women's 51kg pre-quarterfinal bout to reigning world champion Alua Balkibekova.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian athletes who won medals at the Games and praised their performances.
