Nagoya, Sep 26: India’s overall medal tally at the Asian Games has reached 23, comprising two gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals.

Indian shooters Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won the gold medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event in Nagoya on Friday. The Indian duo recorded a score of 484.6 in the final, finishing 6.6 points ahead of South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo, who secured the silver medal with 478 points.

Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh added a silver medal for India in the men’s 10,000m race, while Baranica Elangovan won bronze in the women’s pole vault. Manpreet Kaur also secured a bronze medal in the women’s shot put.

In table tennis, India’s mixed doubles pair of Diya Chitale and Manush Shah settled for bronze after losing 0-3 to world champions and Chinese combination Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha.

India’s men’s and women’s kabaddi teams have also entered the finals after registering comprehensive victories in their respective semifinal matches.

Indian squash players have assured the country of three more medals, with Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar reaching the mixed doubles semifinals, while Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh entered the last four in the singles events.
