Mangaluru, Oct 11: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, celebrated its 16th Graduation Day Ceremony for undergraduate students, the second autonomous batch, on October 10. The ceremony brought together the management, faculty members, graduands and their well-wishers to mark an important milestone in the students’ academic journey.
The programme began with an invocation, followed by the welcome address by Dr S S Injaganeri, principal, who welcomed the gathering. Gururaj Deshpande, chief delivery officer, LTM, was the chief guest and formally declared the Graduation Day open.









Dr Sudheer Shetty, vice principal, announced the gold medallists and the rank holders who were felicitated by the chief guest and the principal. The felicitation acknowledged the students’ dedication, perseverance and commitment to academic excellence.
Gururaj Deshpande, chief guest, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emphasised the importance of embracing technology to remain relevant in the evolving world. He encouraged the graduands to learn something new every day and stressed the need to unlearn and relearn to adapt to changing circumstances.
He also highlighted the significance of communication skills in the present technology-driven world and acknowledged Mangaluru’s contribution to the growth of the banking industry.
Furthermore, he emphasised that small, consistent habits could create a greater impact on society. He reminded the audience that success required perseverance, dedication, and patience, as there were no shortcuts to achievement. He also stressed the importance of nurturing human connections and upholding strong values. He concluded by encouraging everyone to embrace lifelong learning and work effectively towards achieving their goals.
Krishna Hegde, trustee and administrator, in his presidential address, congratulated the graduates on reaching this significant stage of their education. He emphasised the importance of character development and highlighted its role in shaping individuals into responsible and ethical citizens. He discussed the impact of technological advancements and stressed the need to adapt to changing times through continuous learning, innovation, and creativity. He also highlighted the importance of exercising responsibility while using emerging technologies.
In his concluding remarks, Krishna Hegde emphasised that gratitude should be expressed towards parents and teachers for their constant support, guidance, and dedication.
The dignitaries and the respective heads of the departments presented degree certificates to students from the following departments, formally recognising the successful completion of their undergraduate programmes: Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Computer Science and Engineering – Cybersecurity/Computer Integrated (CI), Computer Science and Engineering – Computer Science and Design (CD), Information Science and Engineering (IS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Robotics and Automation Engineering (RA).
The ceremony was followed by the oath-taking session led by Dr Sudheer Shetty, vice principal, during which the graduates took the oath as part of the graduation proceedings.
Skanda Ganesh P V and Ashika Nair shared their experiences as graduates and reflected on their journey at Sahyadri. Their reflections added a personal dimension to the ceremony and highlighted the significance of the learning experiences gained during their time at the institution.
Dr Manjappa Sarathi, director-R&D and consultancy, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, management, faculty members, organisers and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem. The 16th Graduation Day Ceremony marked a memorable occasion for the graduates as they celebrated their achievements and looked ahead to the next phase of their lives.
