Hebri: Shivamogga-bound KSRTC bus gets stuck at Agumbe Ghat bend, holiday traffic disrupted

Hebri, Oct 18: A KSRTC bus travelling from Udupi towards Shivamogga got stuck at a bend on Agumbe Ghat on Sunday, October 18, after the driver was unable to negotiate the turn, briefly disrupting traffic along the ghat road.

Following the incident, passengers were asked to get down from the bus to facilitate the manoeuvre. The driver then reversed the vehicle for a short distance, allowing the bus to clear the bend and traffic to resume smoothly.

Vehicular movement on Agumbe Ghat was heavy as Sunday was a holiday, and the stranded bus caused a temporary traffic disruption. A large number of passengers were travelling on board when the incident occurred.

Passengers stressed that drivers operating buses along the challenging ghat route should have adequate experience in negotiating its sharp bends. They also suggested deploying smaller buses, which would be better suited to navigating the steep and tight curves along Agumbe Ghat.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the challenges of operating buses on the winding ghat road, particularly during holidays when traffic volumes are higher.
