Iran warns of expanded theatre in any future war with US

Daijiworld Media Network - Tehran

Tehran, Nov 1: Iran has warned that any future conflict with the United States would not be confined by geographical boundaries, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) indicating that it is identifying new targets and planning operations across additional geographical theatres.

Brigadier-General Hossein Mohebi, spokesperson for the IRGC, said recent remarks by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had “opened a new chapter” for Iran in any future wars.

“In a conflict with the United States, there are no geographical limitations. A vast theatre has been defined for inflicting damage upon the enemy and achieving maximum deterrence,” Mohebi said in a statement carried by Iran's state-run Tasnim news agency.

He said the objective of “maximum deterrence” was to ensure that no country would adopt a hostile political position against Iran, let alone harbour intentions of targeting its territory.

Mohebi further said the IRGC had begun identifying new targets and planning operations in additional geographical theatres, signalling a possible expansion of Iran's military strategy in the event of another confrontation.
