Kaup, Nov 3: Two cottages at a homestay in Kaup were allegedly vandalised by unidentified persons who trespassed onto the property, causing damage estimated at Rs 20 lac, according to a complaint lodged by the owner.
In his complaint, homestay owner Harshith S Kunder stated that a friend called him around 1 pm on Saturday and alerted him to the damage at the property. Kunder rushed to the spot, reaching the premises within an hour, only to find both cottages extensively vandalised.
The walls of both cottages had been completely demolished, while bathroom fittings, including tiles, commodes, showers, washbasins, mirrors, doors and other fixtures, had been smashed. Debris from the demolished walls and damaged rooms was strewn across the premises.

The complainant further alleged that two air-conditioners and CCTV cameras had been stolen from the property. He suspects that the cameras were deliberately removed to destroy evidence and conceal the identities of those behind the incident.
In a further serious allegation, Kunder stated that he had received death threats a few days before the vandalism, raising concerns over the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Based on his complaint, Kaup police have registered a case under Sections 324(5), 351(2) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 2(a) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDLP) Act.
