Sri Ganganagar, Nov 4: A powerful explosion damaged a railway track in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district, close to the India-Pakistan international border, triggering a major security alert and prompting an investigation by multiple agencies.
The blast occurred around 9.45 pm on Tuesday near 50 GB village in Anupgarh, along the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway line under the Ramsinghpur police station limits. The explosion destroyed two concrete blocks beneath the railway tracks and created a crater nearly two feet deep.

According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred approximately 45 minutes after a passenger train had passed through the stretch. The timing of the incident has raised serious security concerns.
Following the incident, teams from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), dog squad, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and railway authorities rushed to the spot to inspect the damage and collect evidence.
As a precautionary measure, train services on the affected route were suspended. Trains scheduled to operate until 6 am on Wednesday were cancelled.
The proximity of the railway line to the international border has prompted security agencies to examine all possible angles, including suspected sabotage. Investigators are trying to establish whether explosives were used and whether the railway infrastructure was deliberately targeted.
Senior police officials, along with forensic experts and ATS personnel, inspected the affected area. However, authorities have not yet confirmed whether the incident was a bomb explosion.
An investigating officer said that several teams had examined the site, but the exact nature and cause of the explosion could be established only after a detailed investigation. The
officer urged caution against drawing conclusions before the forensic findings were available.
The officer also ruled out any connection between the railway explosion and the recent seizure of 7.5 kg of RDX, stating that the two incidents were unrelated.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns following a recent explosion involving a pickup vehicle carrying explosives in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district, in which the driver was killed. However, authorities have not established any link between the two incidents.
