Mumbai, Apr 9: Omdas Kannangar, metro’s youth columnist and story writer’s second Kannada book, a collection of columns focused on culture, was released during a function held at Samarasa Bhavan, Karnataka Sangh, Matunga (West), on Saturday April 7. The book was published by metro-based Abhijit Prakashan.
Karnataka Sangh president Dr G D Joshi presided over the programme on Saturday.
Superintendent of police K M M Prasanna of Satara district released the book in the presence of renowned social worker Suresh Shetty Bellary.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Prasanna said that Kannangar has attempted to get the perspective of veterans in a series of interviews that he had compiled in the book. He added that everyday incidents are observed in a different objective to get the message across to the readers.
Bellary said that Kannangar is a rare individual who has mass appeal in literary and cultural spheres.
‘Abhijit Prakashan’ proprietor Dr G N Upadhya said that in the jet set age, in depth study is not possible and materialism has already stemmed the interest in other spheres. “The book was published in the midst of chaotic living that has little interest in literature-art-culture among the people,” he said.
Karnataka Sangh honorary treasurer Harish K Hejmady, Kannangar’s mother Dayavati, wife Nivedita, and children Sanidhya and Samruddh were present on the dais.
Karnataka Sangh honorary secretary Bharat Kumar Polipu compered the programme.
