Russian Olympic Medallist Tests Positive


Moscow, Apr 25 (IANS): Russian long jumper Irina Meleshina, silver medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, has been banned for two years by the Russian Athletics Federation after she tested positive for testosterone.

"The banned substance testosterone was found in Irina Meleshina's sample, taken from the sportswoman in testing outside competition on February 7, 2012," the All-Russia Athletics Federation said in a statement on its website Tuesday.

Meleshina, 29, has been disqualified for two years starting February 21, the federation said.
