Mumbai, Jun 5: Akshay Kumar's good days are here again! After 'Singh is King' in 2008 Akshay was not much in the limelight for any of his solo movies. But 2012 has given him a good break with his 'Rowdy Rathore' amassing almost Rs 49 crore in the opening weekend.
Jubiliant with the outcome and support from audience, he did not forget to thank his fans. "This has happened only because of you, my dear fans. I am nothing without your support," Akshay humbly said.
He tweeted, "I owe a HUGE thank you to my audience! You are the only reason behind the biggest opening weekend of my career! Love."
Rowdy Rathore, reportedly produced with a budget of Rs 45 crore has already recovered the cost in the first three days. On Friday, the day of the release, the movie had a collection of Rs 15.6 crore, on Saturday Rs 14.7 crore, and Sunday Rs 18.5 crore.
Rowdy Rathore's opening is reportedly the third biggest in recent times. Only Agneepath and Bodyguard were able to collect huge sums in the past. Incidentally, all three movie which had the greatest opening were remakes!
Rowdy Rathore is also Akshay's widest opening with 2800 theatres in the country screening the movie.
Sonakshi Sinha plays the lead role in the movie. The movie has been produced by Prabhu Deva, with Sanjay Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala as co-producers.
This is indeed a much needed break for Akshay's career.
