Mumbai, Jun 7: Konkani Catholic Association (KCA) of suburban Nallasopara (East), organized the annual distribution of free notebooks, writing materials, and scholarships for poor students during a function held at St Francis De Sales auditorium, Nallasopara (East), recently.

KCA Nallasopara (East) president Harry B Coutinho presided over the programme. T 3 Urban Developers Limited chairman V P Lobo was the chief guest on the occasion.

St Francis De Sales, Nallasopara (East), assistant parish priest Fr Antony D’Souza, Kinaliya D’Souza, and youth social activist Frank D’Souza were the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Lobo urged the students to develop a new perspective on life, as merely taking an interest in job-oriented courses will not make worthy individuals.  “The social welfare activities of KCA Nallasopara are indeed helpful to the poor students for them to positively respond to the challenges of globalization,” he added.

Coutinho, in his presidential address, said that its a small contribution in the form of scholarship, a goodwill gesture, to encourage the students to excel in their studies.  He also urged the students to love their eco-environment.

KCA Nallasopara (East) office-bearers and committee members were present on the occasion.

KCA Nallasopara (East) vice-president Gracy Pinto welcomed the gathering.  Treasurer Alwyn F D’Souza Shirva compered the programme.  Secretary Claude D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks.
