Mumbai, Jun 14 (IANS): His star-studded 40th birthday bash became the talk of the B-town last month, and it was truly meant to be so, says filmmaker Karan Johar, who believes it has been his biggest hit so far.
"The party was meant to be with people I love. I can't help it if I love famous people so much. They all turned up, looking great. I always wanted this," Johar, who turned 40 May 25, told IANS.
From Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu to Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan and Jaya Bachchan --Bollywood's who's who had tip-toed into the bash at the Taj Lands End hotel here.
"At the lack of having a wedding opportunity, where everybody comes dressed and you want all those photographs in an album somewhere, I just thought I would make the 40th birthday an excuse to call all the people I have interacted with in my 15-year career in the industry," Johar said.
"I always wanted them to be well-dressed and well-turned-out, so I wanted a red carpet, black tie bash, and that's what I did. It's been my biggest hit so far - my party," he added.
As a director, Johar is credited with films like "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" and "My Name Is Khan". Now he is busy working on his next "Student Of The Year", and has also signed up to judge dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa", going on air Saturday on Colors.
