Big B Enjoyed Indian Theme at Book Launch

Mumbai, Aug 19 (IANS): Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, known for rediscovering and reviving ancient Indian arts such as chikan and zardosi, launched their book "India Fantastique", and Amitabh Bachchan says he was overwhelmed by the "sea of Indian celebration".

"Above all the magnificence, the one factor that has made it most attractive has been the Indianness in every breath that one took. From the 'mogras' to the dresses of the models, right down to the ladies and gents in the guest list, it has been a sea of Indian celebration. And for this, I am most proud," the 69-year old said.

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla launched the book Saturday at industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence. It marks their silver jubliee in the fashion world.

Giving an insight into the book, Big B, who is on their clientele list, wrote on his blog srbachchan.tumblr: "The colour, the finesse of their designs, the intricacy of their workmanship, the quality of the material and its appropriate positioning, all have been put together over the years in matchless dimensions inside this exquisite book.

"'India Fantastique' may be the reflection of a materialistic form, but even there the material of the fabric is strong, lasting and most Indian."

Mukesh and his wife Neeta Ambani hosted the event. Big B says it was a memorable evening.
