Paris, Aug 24 (IANS): France's National Museum of Natural History has announced the discovery of the skull of the oldest Asian modern man, Xinhua reported.
An international researchers team found the skull in Pa Ling Tam site, in the northeast of Laos, southeast of Asia, where evidence on settlements of modern humans were rare, the museum said a statement Thursday.
According to the report, with a "morphology (which deals with the form and structure of organisms) already quite modern in its characters frontal, occipital and maxillary," the skull has different characteristics compared with people living in western Asia.
The fossil, that confirmed "the exceptional presence of modern humans in Asia beyond 60,000 years," will be presented in Paris by September-end at the National Museum of Natural History.
