Belgrade (Serbia), Sep 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti): The coach of the Kuwait national football team has come out of a coma after being shot last month.
Goran Tufegdzic is awake, in a stable condition and breathing on his own, Serbia's regional Branicevo football association told Serbian newspaper Vecernje Novosti Wednesday.
Tufegdzic is from Serbia and has worked in the Middle East for the last decade.
He was at his family home in Serbia when he was allegedly shot in the chest by his 86-year-old neighbour following a dispute over a plot of land.
The neighbour was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has reportedly confessed.
Tufegdzic underwent three operations and was transferred to the capital, Belgrade, where he has been regularly visited by his relatives and Kuwaiti diplomats.
He has worked with Kuwait since 2009, qualifying the team for the finals of last year's Asian Cup and winning the Gulf Cup in 2010.
