Mumbai, Sep 25 (IANS): Paparazzi culture may be a threat to the personal lives of celebrities -- but not for television stars, feels Sargun Mehta, last seen as the protagonist in "Phulwa".
"I don't know about film stars, but television actors don't have privacy issues with the media. There are certain aspects of your life that you won't want people to know and sometimes they do come out. But I guess that's okay. It's a part of the job so one needs to accept it," she told IANS.
She is dating her "12/24 Karol Bagh" co-actor Ravi Dubey and says it is natural to become friends when two people shoot together for long hours.
The two met on the sets of the show in 2009, became friends and eventually fell in love with each other.
"In television, how can you not make friends? You have to stay with the same people, you shoot for long hours and the show goes on for a long time. It's impossible to not make friends. We got along well on the sets of '12/24 Karol Bagh' and rest is history," she said.
She has also been a part of shows like "Apno Ke Liye Geeta Ka Dharmyudh" and "Hum Ne Li Hai...Shapath", but it was her role in 2011 show "Phulwa" that is closest to her heart.
"My favourite role will have to be 'Phulwa'. With the show, I came to TV after a-year-and-a-half hiatus, I thought I will get to do similar kind of roles, but I got to do such a different role," she said adding that she likes to take breaks.
"I think after one show, you need a break. So that time you are telling people to stay away because you want to relax. You do get offers and then you need to choose the best. I believe one should not be away for long because what is out of sight becomes out of mind," she said.
Sargun, who did an episode in Star Plus telefilm "Teri Meri Love Stories" with actor Karan Patel, has some projects in the pipeline.
