Sameera Happy Curvy Figures Back on Big Screen

Mumbai, Oct 15 (IANS): Actress Sameera Reddy is happy with the trend of curvy body types in films today and she credits Vidya Balan and Rani Mukerji for the trend.

"I think it is good because we put so much pressure on ourselves to lose weight. But thank god, Rani Mukerji, Vidya Balan, these actresses are carrying those 'buttery-soft' bodies which are really making the Indian women come back," the 29-year-old told reporters at an event here.

"So, I am very happy that this trend has come back and I am also trying to push that trend with my song," she added.

Sameera has done an item song "Kunda Khol" in "Chakravyuh" and says she did not bother about weight issues for the song.

"Today, just for one song people stick to workouts, diets and do extra preparations. But there is nothing of this sort in this song. I came from Singapore five days before the song was to be shot and went to Bhopal and did it," Sameera said.

Sameera describes item numbers as a prestige tag.

"I think that today even for certain films, song has become so big that it can provide an opening to the film. I don't say that an item number can carry the film, but definitely it can give it an opening," Sameera said who has done an item song in "Aakrosh".

"And those days have gone when an item song tag was considered bad. I think today it has become a prestige tag," she added.

"Chakravyuh" is slated for an Oct 24 release.
