London, Oct 16 (IANS): British singer Leona Lewis says she was the first to lend vocals to the hit song "We Found Love", penned by Calvin Harris, but it was finally released with Rihanna's vocals.
"I didn't commit to it because I wanted 'Trouble' to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna. It was the same version and production but mine's better," contactmusic.com quoted Lewis as saying.
The song became a smash hit after its release in September last year, reaching the top chart spot in 25 countries and selling over 6.5 million copies.
Lewis, 27, has also stated that she still has the recording, but would never be so unprofessional as to leak it.
She has stated that her version is better, but admits that it may not have done as well as Rihanna's rendition.
Despite this, the controversy around "We Found Love" is sure to raise some publicity around the release of Lewis's latest studio album, "Glassheart", which went online Sunday.
