Enrique's Magic Works, Sweeps Delhi Off its Feet

Gurgaon, Oct 20 (IANS): "Namaste Delhi" - is how international singer Enrique Iglesias greeted his fans as he took to the stage to belt out some of his popular numbers, sweeping them off their feet.

From children as young as 12 to adults as old as 50, all were seen swaying to the tunes of Spanish singer as he performed in Gurgaon during his second India visit.

The international pop star, who last came to India in 2004, sang, danced, and jumped with crowd of thousands of people at the HUDA Grounds here Friday night.

The singer greeted his Delhi fans in Hindi saying, "Namaste Delhi. Aap kaise ho. Main aapse bahut pyaar karta hun." (Hello Delhi, how are you. I love you so much).

The singer, dressed in casual jeans and t-shirt with his trademark cap completing the look, made people get over the resentment of the delay in the show, as he crooned his popular numbers like "Tonight I'm lovin' you", "Rhythm divine", "Bailamos", "Escape", "Tired of being sorry", "Just wanna be with you", "Baby I like it" ,"I like how it feels" and "Hero".

He dedicated the song "Hero" to his fans saying, "Delhi this is for you".

As the concert gained momentum, his fans' excitement knew no bounds, as they too hopped and jumped with him during the concert.

The singer happily interacted with them, either by shaking hands or signing autographs. He even took a teenage girl and a 12-year-old Sikh boy onto the stage and grooved and crooned along with them.

Overwhelmed by the response, Iglesias, 37, said: "This is why I love India. We have been to so many nations but nobody makes me feel like India does."

The popularity of Iglesias is such that there were some fans, who had come to Delhi from places like Kolkata and Chandigarh just to witness the magic of the singer.

"We have been hearing Enrique since we were in class 6. We have come from Chandigarh just for Enrique and our visit was totally worth it. We came by road and we lost our ways but we somehow reached here and waiting and the wait was totally worth it," said Surbhi Suri, a class 12th student.

"It was amazing to see the way he interacted with people. And he looks better in person than on screen. He is extraordinarily good looking," she added.

Shantanu, a class 11 student and another die-hard Iglesias fan, rued he didn't get picked up by the singer to be on stage, but says he had a "really good time watching the show" and "wants to be like him".

The singer is on a tri-city concert in India, with BookMyShow.com being the exclusive ticketing partner for Iglesias' tri-city concert in India.

After performing in Pune Wednesday and Delhi Friday, Iglesias is due to perform in Bangalore Sunday.
