Father's Failure Inspired Affleck

Los Angeles, Nov 20 (IANS): Actor Ben Affleck says it was the struggle of his father Timothy Affleck that pushed him towards achieving success.

Affleck, 40, witnessed his father's tough time and how he failed to make a mark in the industry. This encouraged the actor to never fall down.

"I lived with this tremendous fear of failure because my father was a playwright and a director, and I think he did a couple of things as a child as an actor as well, and... he failed, basically. He didn't do what he said he was going to do," GQ magazine quoted Affleck as saying.

"He worked with guys who later became famous, like James Woods and Dustin Hoffman, and he wasn't successful. And that wasn't going to be me... That definitely drove me. It drove me and drove me and drove me... and I have it to thank for not giving up," he added.

Affleck carved a niche for himself in acting with movies like "Goodwill Hunting", "Armageddon", "Hollywoodland" and "Gone Baby Gone".
