Pran Saheb doing Fine, says Big B

Mumbai, Nov 20 (IANS): Veteran actor Pran, who is admitted to Lilavati Hospital here, is recovering well and is ready to go back home soon, says megastar Amitabh Bachchan who enjoyed working with him in Hindi films.

Pran, 92, was admitted to the hospital Friday.

"I read quite by accident that Pran saheb is unwell and in hospital, and I call immediately to check facts and details. Later, a few hours ago, I visit him. He is fine, repaired enough to be home by Wednesday, and full of laughter and talk of the times spent together, (sic)" Big B posted on his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com.

Big B worked with Pran in more then 10 films including "Zanjeer" and "Don" and says he has always been a delight to work with.

"A true professional, an earnest colleague, a gentleman and in possession of an elephants memory on some of the most incredible 'shairi' of the times gone by. Irrespective of the heavy makeup that he wore on most of his films - the heavy false beards and wigs interpreting various characters that he played - he was always the first on the set and never left it to get back to his room," Bachchan wrote.

"He would sit quietly after his shot was over, in the heat of the studio, with gentle demeanour, throughout the shift, leaving only after the 'pack up' sound...On outdoor schedules, he was a delight to spend time with - his daily evening drink and his numerous anecdotes and knowledge of urdu poetry," he further posted.

"This evening too he is filled with those numbers and at 92, god bless him, has not lost any of his sense of humour and humility," he added.
