Kundapur: Five Students Critical as Car Topples

Kundapur, Dec 2: In a tragic road mishap, five students are said to be critical as the Scorpio vehicle they were travelling is toppled due to over speed on the National Highway 66 here at Maravanthe on December 1 midnight.

The Bangalore registered car had picked students from Udupi and was on its way to Gokarna.

Sources said that, the driver of the car tried to evade a pothole and thus the car toppled as he lost control. The impact was such that, the five students were thrown off the road and were critically injured.

They were soon rushed to the hospital by Deepak Kumar Shetty, president of taluk Raitha Sangha.

It is learnt that, another group of friends of the injured have moved ahead to Gokarna in another car.

Nithin, Jerry, Abhishek, Kavya, Deeksha Mallya, Jithesh Acharya, Radhesh Amin and Darshan were travelling in a car out of which Kavya, Deeksha, Jithesh Acharya, Radhesh Amin, Darshan are said to be critical. Other students escaped unhurt.

As per the information received, the students were pursuing their studies in Alva’s College and had hired two Scorpio cars from Udupi to travel to Gokarna as it was a holiday on Sunday.

The injured are admitted to Chinmaya hospital in Kundapur.

A case has been registered at the Gangolli police station.
