Lok Sabha Adjourned Over Gujarat Project

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS): The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. Tuesday after Congress members raised the issue of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi allegedly favouring a foreign company in a gas exploration project.

Congress MPs demanded an answer over a media report alleging that the BJP government in Gujarat had given a foreign company stakes worth Rs.2,000 crore in a gas exploration project virtually for nothing.

This led to an adjournment of the house till 12.30 p.m and later till 2 p.m.

Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam demanded a probe into the alleged pay off.

A report in Tehelka magazine has alleged that the Modi government gave away 10 percent stake in a Krishna-Godavari Basin gasfield to GeoGlobal Resources, a company that existed only on paper.

The Congress had raised the issue Monday at its official briefing.
