Mangalore: Lucky Escape for Seven Fishermen as Boat Sinks

Mangalore, Dec 26: Seven fishermen had a miraculous escape after their boat capsized off Someshwar beach here on Tuesday December 25 at around 9 pm.

The fishermen have been identified as Selwakumar, Muruganandam, Parameshwara, Kumar, Ravi, Antony and Pasan.

The incident occured when their fishing boat 'Ashtil' hit against the wreckage of Hong Kong-based private vessel 'M V Asian Forest' which had sunk in 2009.

As soon as the boat crashed into the wreckage, it developed a crack and water entered inside.

Luckily, another boat named 'Pundalika' was able to reach the stranded fishermen and rescue them on time.

The Ashtil boat sank causing an estimated loss of Rs 30 lac.
