Vijayalakshmi to play lead in 'Vennila Veedu'

Chennai, Jan 21 (IANS): Tamil actress Vijayalakshmi Agathiyan, known for movies like "Chennai 600028" and "Anjathe", has signed a new drama titled "Vennila Veedu" with director Vetri Mahalingam.

"We were sure that we wanted her (Vijayalakshmi) for the role which we thought was tailor-made for her. We are glad that upon hearing the script, she agreed to work with us despite her busy schedule," producer P.V. Arun told IANS.

The film stars 'Mirchi' Senthil, Vijayalakshmi and 'Parota' Suri, Srindaa Ashab and Muthuraman in lead roles. It revolves around the story of a couple, who moves from a village to the city.

"The story is inspired from the lives of several couples that come from a village with the aspiration of making it big in a city," added Arun.

The film, which went on floors earlier this month, will be primarily shot in Chennai and later in other parts of Tamil Nadu.

D. Kannan has been roped in as the cinematographer, while G. Veeramani will handle the art department.

Vijayalakshmi is meanwhile busy shooting for the upcoming Tamil comedy "Rendavathu Padam".
