Playing Alzheimer's patient helped Winestone rescue stranger

Los Angeles, Jan 27 (IANS): Actor Ray Winestone says playing the role of an Alzheimer's patient in upcoming movie "Ashes" helped him save a man on streets.

Winestone says it was his knowledge about the disease of severe memory loss and confusion, which he gained while shooting for the film, that helped him identify a stranger with similar problem and help him.

"I saw this old boy wandering alone. It was a cold day and he was only wearing a vest. I thought, 'He doesn't look well,'... I just had a feeling. I didn't approach him, I didn't want to scare him. So I rang the Old Bill (police) and they came and got him," mirror.co.uk quoted Winestone as saying.

"It turned out he'd wandered off. They found out who he was and took him back. Before I wouldn't have questioned it - I'd have just thought, 'Silly b**tard'," he added.
