'Silver Linings Playbook' receives Australian award


Los Angeles, Jan 27 (IANS): David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook", which has got eight Oscar nominations, was named the best film at the second annual Australia Academy of Cinema and Television Arts International Awards.

The award was presented to the producers - Donna Gigliotti, Bruce Cohen and Jonathan Gordon - during a ceremony at the Soho House here Saturday, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

The two-year-old awards are given in five categories to international films chosen by the Australian Academy.

Indian actor Anupam Kher also features in the romantic comedy along with Hollywood giants Robert de Niro, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film also earned Russell best director trophy, while Lawrence won the best actress for her performance in the movie.
