Mumbai Feb 3: The Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranarayanan today congratulated the Maharashtra Contingent of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for creating a history by winning the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner for the fourth consecutive year at the Republic Day Camp held in New Delhi recently.
The governor hosted a tea in honour of the victorious NCC cadets and officers at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Saturday (2 Feb).
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor congratulated the National Cadet Corps for shaping the character of the youths by inculcating in them discipline, patriotism and an urge for social service. He expressed the hope that the NCC will mould the character of more youths in the country.
Major general S Sengupta, additional director general of Maharashtra NCC informed that the strength of Maharashtra NCC is being increased from 1 lakh to 1.20 lakh cadets from this year. He said that Maharashtra NCC has bagged the Champion Directorate Trophy for the 16th time during the last 22 years.
The cadets presented a cultural programme on this occasion.
Team members also excelled in 14 out of 17 individual and team events held at the Republic Day Camp.
The 100-strong contingent of NCC cadets from Maharashtra received the Prime Minister’s Banner and the Champion Directorate Trophy for the fourth consecutive year at the Republic Day Camp held in New Delhi this year.
