Mumbai, Mar 8: The ‘Koota Mahajagathu Mumbai Angasamsthe’ performed a ‘Durga Homa’ at Subramanya Math on Sunday March 3. Purohit Subramanya Aithala performed the religious function with Ganesh Aithala and his wife leading the event.
The function was held in collaboration with the Koota Maha Public Charitable Trust which distributed assistance to the tune of Rs 2.2 lac. A total of 26 people benefited from this and it included 5 medical and 21 educational assistance. The beneficiaries included non-Kannadigas. All office-bearers of the organization and the Trust were present on the occasion.
The Koota Trust was formed in 2010 by visionary M R Mayya along with B Narayana, U N Aithal, P C N Rao, P V Aithal, H K Karanth and Ramesh Rao two years ago to help the weaker section of society, to promote education, and give medical assistance to the needy.
K Narayana Rao and the women members of Koota Mahajagathu Nagaratna Holla and Dr Sahana Potty were also present on the occasion.
The function began with prayer by Jahnnavi and Bhargavi Potty. V Aithala compered the event. H K Karanth highlighted the contribution of M R Mayya and big donation from Reliance Industries through the good office of B Narayana. Venkappa Aithala, who had come from Uppunda, appreciated the effort being taken by the Trust. Purohit Subramanya Aithala briefed about the Durga Homa and its benefits.
President M R Mayya sought the cooperation of all those present in making the corpus fund touch Rs 1 crore. P C N Rao read out the names of the beneficiaries for the year 2012-13. Cheques were presented president Mayya to those who were present. Ramesh Rao gave the vote of thanks.
Writer, scientist Dr Vyasaraya Ninjoor, auditor Shri Subba Rao, HBL Rao, CMG Shastri, K S Rao, and B B Rao graced the occasion with their presence. The programme ended with the distribution of ‘Tirtha Prasad’.
