Nikasha Tawadey brings 'Raat Ki Rani' to WIFW ramp

New Delhi, Mar 14 (IANS): Fashion designer Nikasha Tawadey showcased a collection titled 'Raat Ki Rani' at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) here.

Truly, the collection surprised the fashionistas as it was a perfect blend of colour, texture and designs. The collection consisted of fitted silhouettes like multi-coloured jumpsuits, mini-kurtas, choli-tanks, dhotis, shararas, saris and waistcoats. It represented a desi woman, who is bold, beautiful and familiar with her culture.

"It's an energetic collection. It makes a woman look young and attractive. I wanted to play with the colours, so I experimented with varied shades like orange, red, green, yellow and purple. I merged Indian and western fashion elements," said Nikasha, a self-trained designer, who entered the fashion industry in 2006.

Nikasha used fabrics that were perfect for all the seasons. She mainly used silk, chiffon, georgette and crepes.

"The outfits are not heavily embellished with zardozi or swarovski. Refined threadwork and sequins have been done. The collection is feminine," she added.

Talking about the accessories, the designer said: "I wanted to use minimal accessories. I have just used danglers and have also tied nimbu-charms to the dupattas to add the fun element."

Buyers from across the world occupied front row seats for the show Wednesday night, while Indian designer Nachiket Barve was spotted admiring the designs.
