Mumbai: Bunts Sangh city regional committee celebrates third annual day

Mumbai, Mar 20: Bunts Sangha has been involved in social service activities for many years and has extended its sphere by forming regional committees to serve the welfare of a wide section of society.

The contribution of the Bunts community will gain greater significance if community brethren join hands with the state administration in addressing the water woes of drought-hit remote villages across Maharashtra,” said Maharashtra state health minister Suresh H Shetty.

He was the chief guest, speaking after felicitating the distinguished personalities of the Bunts community during the third annual day celebrations of Bunts Sangh Mumbai city regional committee at Bunts Bhavan, Kurla (East), on Saturday March 16.

Bunts Sangha Mumbai president chartered accountant Shankar B Shetty presided over the programme.

BCCI office-bearer Professor Ratnakar Shetty, World Bunts Federation vice-president Harish Shetty, and Bunts Sangh Bajpe president Vijayanat Vittal Shetty were the guests of honour. ‘Tulunada Kattu Kattalegalu’, the fifth reprint of the Kannada book authored by Raghu P Shetty, was released on the same occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Shankar Shetty said that the Bunts community that arrived in the metro in search of better opportunities has gotten everything. “It’s the duty of the community to repay the debt in some way or other,” he said urging the community to generate funds in helping the drought-hit remote villages across the state response to the pleas of minister Suresh Shetty.

Distinguished personalities of the community Kuppanna A Shetty and Shanta K Shetty, Doddanna A Shetty and Suguna D Shetty, national awardees Kudi Vasant Shetty and Lata V Shetty, Raghu P Shetty and Varija R Shetty, Shekar D Shetty and Sasikala S Shetty, Dr Tulasi Shetty, Dr Muddanna Shetty, regional committee former president Jayaram Shetty Inna, women’s wing former president Sujay R Shetty and others were felicitated during the programme.

Bunts Sangh vice-president Karnire Vishwanat Shetty, honorary chief secretary chartered accountant Sadashiv B.Shetty, regional organizing executive president Ratnakar Shetty Mundkoor, women’s wing president Lata P Shetty, city regional committee joint secretary Suresh S Shetty, joint treasurer Santosh R.Shetty, women’s wing president Uma Krishna Shetty, youth wing president Pradeep B Shetty, education and social welfare committee president Prasad Shetty, wedding committee president P Dhananjay Shetty, sports committee president Manohar Shetty, membership committee president Mahabala Shetty, and cultural committee president Jayanti Shetty were present on the dais.

Tulu play ‘Yakshanilaya’ was staged by Bunta Ranga drama troupe and cultural shows were staged by the members of the regional committee.

The city regional committee president Krishna V.Shetty welcomed the gathering. Vice president Anil Shetty Yelinje delivered the introductory address. Vice-president Sasidar G Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. Kallige Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme.
