Udupi, Apr 4: The Udupi art foundation organized a folk and tribal art exhibition with the theme 'I and Ethnicity' by Art Foundation School on Wednesday, April 3.

The exhibition will go on upto April 10 at Udupi Art Gallery. 45 to 50 art works by 14 students were on display. The different art works were named  'Worli', 'Madhubhani', 'Sermon', 'Rock Art', 'Rangoli' and 'Muriya'.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Sudha Rao, principal of Vidyodaya public school , and Sagar Mukopadhyay (Manipal Group CEO) was the chief
guest.

Sudha Rao said that "tribal art is unique. This part of the continent has very less interest in this form of art. The colours used
are natural. Children have now a complete knowledge regarding the form of art they represent and such exhibitions should be encouraged."

"The work of the mentor is to be appreciative and guide the new generation with enthusiasm and lead them in to a unique path," she said.

Mukopadhyay said students are spontaneously expressive out of  which the freedom of expression is well reflected. This will lead them to
sit confidently at driver's seat and decide their destination successfully.

Speaking on the occasion Vasanth Rao, chairman Udupi Art Foundation said that the children had worked hard and have given their 100%.

Students speaking to daijiword said that it was a very good experience to explore the  new traditions of tribal life in India.

"We would love to continue our work in this area," they said enthusiastically.

The specialty of this art lies in the fact that the pictures reflect innocence life style of the tribal folks.

Namita, Sripriya,  Mansvi, Swathi, Amanya and Avni were among the students who shared their experience with Daiji.
